MORE than 1,000 homes in Banbury were left without power earlier today.

Residents in North Street, West Street, East Street and Stroud Close were all affected, although not for long.

Engineers restored electricity within an hour of the power cut.

Central Networks spokesman Emily Highmore apologised for the disruption.

She said: “We lost supply to just over 1,600 customers at 5.40pm. We restored about 1,100 seven minutes later and by 6.27pm everybody’s supply was back.

“The problem was an underground cable fault.”

Central Networks distributes power to homes on behalf of the electricity company E.ON.
