Boys will be boys, particularly when they’re part of a rugby team on a pub crawl.

The behaviour of the students from Oxford Brookes’ rugby squad at the Hobgoblin pub in Cowley Road last week was immature and boorish.

It isn’t the first time a bunch of students have behaved badly in Oxford, and it won;t be the last.

But their behaviour should not reflect adversely on the university itself.

On the contrary, the Brookes response was swift, honest and decisive – the rugby team has been sin binned while a full investigation takes place.

The university’s reputation in the community has been enhanced, not diminished, as a result.
