The plans to "Transform Oxford" propose that buses be removed from Magdalen Street.
Instead, there would be a turning circle for buses in St Giles.
Of course the street would be much pleasanter without buses, and if the buses returning northwards can turn in St Giles, the environment will gain. But many buses and taxis go down Magdalen Street East and George Street on their way towards the railway station and south Oxford.
If this route is blocked, the buses will be caught in the congestion at Worcester College. We have been told that Transform Oxford is a vision, and details will be worked out later.
The hope is, I suppose, that these details will only show the impossibility of some parts of the vision after next summer's county council election.
