A group of Witney fundraisers enjoyed a star-studded lunch date in London.

They are all members of the Witney Fundraising Team of the Oxfordshire charity Against Breast Cancer and were invited to attend the charity's15th birthday celebration at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts – Bafta.

Chairman Jeanne Chattoe, secretary Denise Barkley, treasurer Laura Hounam and Natasha Hall joined celebrity patrons including X-Factor judge Simon Cowell and TV presenter Ben Shephard, for the Splash of Pink lunch.

Mrs Chattoe, from Witney, who is a trustee of Against Breast Cancer and has been fundraising for the charity since its launch 15 years ago, sat next to Mr Cowell. Also at the event was his mother Julie Cowell, a dedicated supporter of the charity's research towards finding a vaccine against breast cancer, who was made honorary president.

Ms Barkley, who is also a patron of Against Breast Cancer, said the lunch was very much enjoyed by the supporters of the charity who were invited to the event.

"It was a fantastic upbeat event with lots of well-known faces," she said.

"We were happy to be there on behalf of the Witney Fundraising Team, who organise a wide range of events in and around the town which are very well supported and very successful."

At the start of last month, Witney in the Pink Day, when the town is decorated with pink balloons and there is a tin collection, street entertainment and stalls, raised around £5,000 for Against Breast Cancer.

Other celebrity guests at the lunch included Duncan Bannatyne from TV's Dragons' Den, former tennis player Greg Rusedski and TV chef Ross Burden.
