Sir – I do not doubt that Hugh Jaeger (Letters, October 24) realises that 27.351 per cent of readers are convinced by statistics and percentages.
I hope he also realises that the percentage could be increased to around 70.561 per cent by his citing evidence for the percentages: eg articles in refereed journals, cited by author, article title, journal title, volume number, date, pages. The remaining 2.088 per cent might even read the articles.
