Short-stay parking could be introduced in South Bar, Banbury, in a bid to boost trade.

Cherwell District Council plans to create 41 ultra-short stay bays, allowing vehicles to park from as little as 15 minutes up to one hour.

At the moment the parking in the area is long-stay.

The council hopes the move will encourage more people to make quick shopping stops.

Proposed changes to the current parking order are for the east side of South Bar, between Calthorpe Street and Banbury Cross, outside the Swan pub.

The new scheme is now out to consultation, but could be in place by December.
