Police are appealing for witnesses after money was stolen in a snatch theft in Woodstock.

At 6pm yesterday, a man went into the Co-operative store on High Street and joined the queue for the checkout. As he paid the cashier, he snatched about £100 from the till and ran off. It is believed he then drove off in an old dark saloon car.

He is in his early 20s, about 5ft 7in tall, medium build and had short brown, spiky, wet-look hair. He was wearing a light brown jumper.

Det Con Paddy O’Grady, of Witney CID, said: “This theft happened at a busy time of day and there were lots of people around in Woodstock. Did you see this young man acting suspiciously before or after the theft?

“There was also a dark-coloured car seen acting suspiciously at the time, including driving around Woodstock without its lights on.

"It may or may not be connected to this crime, so if anyone saw this car or can help us eliminate it from our inquiries then please get in touch.”
