Fire crews were called to the northbound carriageway of the A34 outside Oxford today after a car caught fire.
Traffic was forced to go slow as smoke billowed across the carriageway at about 7.15am near the Hinksey Hill interchange.
Two fire engines from Abingdon attended the blaze and a spokesman for Oxfordshire Fire Service said no-one was hurt.
A spokesman for South Central Ambulance confirmed paramedics were not required to attend.
