A 39-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm following an assault outside an Abingdon pub.
The arrest was in connection with an assault outside the Spread Eagle pub, in Northcourt Road, Abingdon, on Sunday.
A 20-year-old man was hit on the head and was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital with a fractured skull. Police said he is in a stable condition.
Police said the arrested man has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
