The family of a young father killed in a motorcycle crash have paid tribute to their son, who "touched everyone's lives".

Shane McGonagle, 23, died early on Wednesday when his Honda 125cc motorbike was involved in a collision with a lorry on the A4130, close to his home in Sutherland Beck, Didcot.

Mother Kay, 51, and father Anthony, 58, paid tribute to their son today. They said: "He touched everyone's lives that knew him."

Mrs McGonagle believed that the former pupil of St Birinus School in Didcot was on his way to buy cigarettes when the 2am crash happened.

Shane's death is a double blow to the family, as elder brother Steve, 29, committed suicide earlier in the year.

Shane, who worked at Clearwater Hampers, in East Hendred, since he was 16, leaves behind a three-year-old son Kai, who lives with his mother in Ireland.

He has six brothers and three sisters, including his twin sister Donna. They are Mark, 34, Gavin, 32, Steve, 29, Keith, 28, Joanne, 26, Kenny, 24, Pearce, 22, and Kerrie, 12.

His funeral will be held tomorrow, at 6.30pm, at English Martyrs Catholic Church, in Manor Crescent, Didcot.

His ashes will then be flown to Culdaff, in County Donegal, Ireland, on Wednesday, where he will be buried next to his brother.

The family have lived in Didcot for the past 10 years, but Shane regularly returned to his Irish homeland to see his son.

Mr and Mrs McGonagle said: "In his short life he was a very pleasant, quiet, reserved lad who went out of his way to help anyone out.

"He was happy with the simple things in life.

"He will be sadly missed by his mother and father, brothers and sisters and all his close friends.

"Our family would like to thank everyone concerned for their kindness and help."

Mrs McGonagle said that Shane's main hobbies were cars and his motorbike, which he had had for a year.

His favourite drinking spot was the Wallingford Arms, in the Broadway, where he was very popular.

Mr and Mrs McGonagle said: "He had a large circle of friends and work mates and was liked by everyone."
