Since Tuesday last week, I have been visiting my grandfather in the medical short stay ward in the John Radcliffe Hospital and I have noticed that since he was admitted to the ward, there has been a collection of dust round the radiator at his bedside.

The dust was still there on Friday night.

Walking down the corridor from the ward on Thursday evening, I noticed the window sills were covered in a layer of dust.

We keep reading of new cases of the superbugs MRSA or C Diff in wards.

It is no surprise when the cleaners are not doing their jobs properly.

I thought wards were inspected to make sure they were kept clean.

I understand that reports on hospital cleanliness have just come out and that the John Radcliffe was rated "excellent".

Forgive me for thinking, but whoever did the inspection was either looking at a different hospital or was walking round with their eyes shut as that can't be true of my experience of the hospital.
