A 19-year-old admitted attacking and raping a woman after a night out in Oxford when he appeared in court today.
John Westland, of Fairfield Place, Abingdon, admitted charges of rape and causing grievous bodily harm.
He was remanded in custody until he is sentenced next month.
Westland spoke only to confirm his name and admit the charges, which followed an incident on August 17.
The victim cannot be named for legal reasons, but Ian Hope, prosecuting, told Judge Anthony King she was not known to the defendant prior to the evening of the attack.
Oxford Crown Court heard that Westland had previous convictions for sexual assault, dating back to when he was 15, and indecent exposure in 2005.
David Hislop, defending, asked for an adjournment for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.
Judge King told Westland: "There is a possibility of an indeterminate sentence."
