Would-be firefighters got a taste of what the job was like during a fire station have-a-go event.
Deddington fire station, in Banbury Road, hosted a family event where members of the public could take part in gruelling enrolment tests.
About 45 people tested their strength, dexterity and mental mettle in mock rescue operations, such as dragging dummies across the station and climbing and lifting ladders on Saturday.
Station manager Simon Belcher said more than half of those who took part were women — and a third were people from ethnic minorities.
