Britain's best known ballerina pirouetted into Oxford to meet her fans and sign copies of her Magic Ballerina books.
Darcey Busell was met by more than 200 fans when she arrived at Waterstone's bookshop, in Broad Street, at 4pm.
The books by the former principal dancer with the Royal Ballet follow the fortunes of child dancer Delphie and her adventures in the mystical land of Enchantia.
Kate Phillips, children's regional support manager for Waterstone's, said: "It was great. It was really buzzing. People started queueing around 2.15pm. they were very excited and very loud."
Waterstone's will host another book signing, by comedian Alan Carr, at 2.30pm tomorrow.
