An artist from East Oxford has opened a contemporary new gallery and is appealing for Oxford's up-and-coming talent to join his collective.

Puder opened in Iffley Road last weekend and is a collaboration by James Puder, from Cowley, and designer Ann Kathrin Zieger, from Berlin.

Among diplayed items are a series of ’80s inspired models, Pakistani truck art, which includes colourful tea pots, cups, bowls, vases, and watering cans and Mr Puder's Glamoure range, a series of works in gold and silver.

But the pair opened the quirky gallery — which features a 'disco toilet', painted entirely in silver — not only to exhibit their work but to provide a platform for a new Oxford arts scene.

Mr Puder said: "I am interested not just in conventional art, but also in exploring our contemporary lifestyles through different mediums, like fashion, music, advertising, behaviour and language.

"We see the gallery as being about celebrating the freedom of our modern lifestyles.

"And we want to exhibit works in as many types of media as possible, from fine art techniques, like painting and sculpture, to new media like sound installations, video art animation and digital graphic work."

The pair are also keen to set up meetings where they hope visual and performance artists can share work.

Ms Zieger is also looking for aspiring models and clothes makers to get in contact with her for a fashion show of her label Cauliflower, which she aims to put on next month.

Mr Puder said the doors to his gallery were open to anyone who wanted to show him their work.

Mr Puder can be contacted at the gallery, on Friday evenings from 5pm to 10pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 8pm.
