Saab, which has little to reveal over the last couple of years other than new bioethanol versions of existing models, addresses that dearth of car design with a stunning new convertible concept.
Titled the 9-X Air, and on show at the Paris Motor Show, the concept is a tantalising glimpse of what will be a future Saab drop-top. It breaks the mould of conventional convertibles by using a prominent rear pillar that gives the car added strength, and virtually eliminates the wind buffeting that blights most convertibles.
The 1.4-litre engine employed by the 9-X Air runs on bioethanol, but it is sporty enough to cover 0-62mph in 8.1 seconds.
