An 18-year-old man was arrested today in connection with a £25,000 armed robbery in Botley.
At about 10.20am on Monday, two men entered Co-op Travel, in Chapel Way, and threatened members of staff and a customer with a bag, claiming to have a gun inside.
The men ordered the four women staff to open the safe and stole about £13,000 cash and £12,000 in travellers cheques.
Detectives said today that they were keen to trace a red or orange estate car that is around ten years old and was seen in Elms Parade. They would also like to speak anyone who may have seen the two robbers as they ran off from the scene.
Det Con David Evans said: “The suspects were last seen in Elms Parade, at the junction with Chapel Way. We are asking the public to help us trace where they went next.
“We also need to establish whether the estate car seen in Elms Parade is connected with the robbery. Did you see it in Botley on Monday morning?
“It may be that this vehicle belongs to an innocent member of the public – if you think your car matches the description, please contact us so we can rule you out of our enquiries.
“A large amount of traveller’s cheques were stolen in the robbery and we would ask anyone who has been offered a large amount of cheques for sale to please get in touch.”
