The family of 17-year-old cyclist Sarah Waterhouse who died in a crash on her way to school tonight paid tribute to a 'loving and caring girl'.
Sarah, of Marcham, a pupil at Larkmead School, Abingdon, died on Monday when her cycle was involved in a collision in Colwell Drive, Abingdon, with a coach carrying pupils to Abingdon School.
A statement from the family, issued through police said: “Sarah was a loving and caring girl who had endless enthusiasm for everything she did in her own quiet way.
“Her insatiable desire to try out new things, and vibrancy of life led her to having many and diverse hobbies and interests: she played the trombone in the Wantage Silver Band, had recently started to look after students in Year 7, she completed her life-guard qualification and then enjoyed working at a local pool.
"She had been an enthusiastic Girl Guide and also helped as a leader at Rainbows.
“Sarah loved wildlife, enjoyed snorkelling and was a keen scuba diver who had recently undergone training to be an instructor.
"She was just completing her silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and particularly liked the expeditions.
“Sarah was kind and happy and cared greatly for her family, looking after us and her brother James, and had friends of all ages.
“Her warmth and generosity make her special.
“We desperately miss Sarah, but she will always be with us.”
