Plans for a £2.1m redevelopment of Oxford's Old Fire Station theatre studio have been given the go-ahead.
Funding for the scheme was awarded by the Government Places of Change Programme earlier this year and last night councillors approved the plans.
It will completely redevelop the centre, between Gloucester Green and George Street, retaining the 169-seat theatre and art gallery and building a new cafe.
Once complete, the new centre will offer a Skylight centre — a learning and activity facility offering employment for people, including the homeless.
Work is likely to start next year.
