In their smart jackets and ties and neat dresses, these pupils were a good advertisement for their school.
They were the fifth-formers at Chipping Norton Grammar School in 1946 or 1947.
The picture comes from former pupil Roland Huckins, of Tumbling Bay Court, Henry Road, Oxford.
He was prompted to send it in after seeing Marjorie Coveney's picture of fifth and sixth formers in 1946 (Memory Lane, May 5).
Mrs Coveney, of Oxford Road, Farmoor, recalled that pupils, who lived in villages outside Chipping Norton, travelled to school by bus.
She wrote: “The rest cycled in all weathers and must have had some hard riding, bearing in mind the elevated position of Chipping Norton School.
“Few parents had cars and those who did would not have used precious petrol in wartime for school journeys.”
