A blue plaque has been unveiled to honour an Oxford author — who wrote his last book aged 101.
Nirad Chaudhuri made Oxford his home when he was a pensioner and lived in Lathbury Road, North Oxford, from 1982 until his death nine years ago.
He made his name as a political commentator and writer in the years leading up to India's independence.
The plaque was unveiled by writer Amit Chaudhuri on Saturday, watched by relatives and family friends of the late author.
The ceremony was also attended by Jitendra Kumar Sharma, the First Secretary of the Indian High Commission in London, and the Lord Mayor of Oxford, Susanna Pressel.
Born in India, the author wrote many of his books while living in England and won an OBE for his contribution to writing, while living in the city.
He wrote his last book, The Three Horsemen of the Apocalypse, only a year before his death at the age of nearly 102.
Mr Chaudhuri is believed to be the only person in the world to be a published author over the age of 100.
