Police mounted a major search last night and today after a man was reported missing from Headington.
Search teams and a police helicopter worked thoughout Saturday night and this morning trying to trace the man.
It included a substantial search in woodland near Thornhill Park and Ride in Oxford.
The search was finally called off when he turned up safe and well in Chieveley, west Berkshire at around midday.
Police refused to release many details but it is believed that the man is in his 40s.
