A Bicester schoolboy who saved his mother's life when she fell in to a diabetic coma has won a Pride of Britain award.
Jaden Ashton, six, a pupil of St Mary's Catholic Primary School in Bicester, fed his mother, Brina Ashton, sugarcubes when he found her unconscious and shaking then called 999.
The youngster, who lives in Whitley Crescent, will receive a Child of Courage award tonight for his actions.
Mrs Ashton had not fallen in to a diabetic coma for more than 10 years when it happened in June, but had trained her son to use her blood glucose monitor and raise the alarm if it fell below a certain level.
Mrs Ashton, 40, said: "I've had only had one collapse in the 20 years I have been diabetic, but Jaden was aware from a young age what he should do if his dad was not there.
"It is a lot to take in for a five-year-old, but he remembered everything and saved my life.
"It must have been terrifying for him to see me like that, but he stayed so calm. I have heard the recording of the 999 call he made and I was so proud."
At tonight's awards ceremony will be Prince Charles, Prime Minister Gordon Brown, David Beckham, Sir Paul McCartney, Ant and Dec, Kevin Spacey, Spice Girls Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, and Gordon Ramsay.
