Today we publish a roll call of shame listing the 58 people who have attempted to cheat the benefits system in Oxfordshire, but failed to get away with it.
Thanks to the investigations of fraud teams, a staggering £1.5m is to be paid back.
These cheats are people from across the social spectrum who have one thing in common: None is entitled to the benefits they fraudulently claimed.
We salute the teams working for each of the five district councils in Oxfordshire who gather evidence to haul individuals to court.
Why is it fair for the vast majority of law-abiding individuals living in Oxfordshire to put in a shift at work and pay their taxes, while others bend the rules? The answer is, it's not.
That is why the good work these fraud-busters carry out should be supported by everyone.
Many people will know someone who is on the take, but choose to turn a blind eye.
If they have information, they should pick up the phone and call the fraud hotline on 0800 3286340.
