They might be 10 years too young to legally tie the knot, but this did not stop pupils at one Oxfordshire school taking part in their very own white wedding.
The service, which was held yesterday at St Peter's Church, in Wootton, near Abingdon, was conducted by the Rev John Cooper and formed part of a religious education week at the village's St Peter's Primary School.
School governor Rowena Drewett said the service was no different to any other church wedding — and was followed by a wedding breakfast for the happy couple and congregation.
About 115 pupils were involved — with the bride, groom and bridesmaids walking down the aisle watched from the pews by classmates playing the roles of guests.
Mrs Drewett said: "It was like a real life event and was part of our RE week, during which we've tried to incorporate as many different cultures and customs as we can, so the children learn all about them."
