The latest phase of a £1m scheme to repair the River Thames towpath in Oxford has been completed.
Sections of towpath in the Fiddler's Island area of Oxford have been resurfaced at a cost of £400,000.
Philip Swan, of cycling group Cyclox, is pictured on one of the renovated section.
And Oxfordshire County Council has set out plans to spend a further £440,000 on three more schemes in coming months.
Attention has been focused on the state of the towpath following the death of Wolvercote teenager Ben Halsey-Jones, who fell into the flooded river while cycling near Port Meadow last year.
Earlier this year, the footpath and riverbank was restored in the Rainbow Bridge and area. The next phase will see: Repairs to the riverbank and towpath next to Abbey Road, off Botley Road, at a cost of £100,000. Work has begun and is due to be completed next month.
Upgrades to the towpath by Gasworks bridge, north of Grandpont. Work will begin next month and is scheduled to be complete early next year, at a cost of £190,000.
Repairs south of Donnington Bridge. Work starts next month and is due for completion next year, at a cost of £150,000.
County Hall is expecting a £50,000 contribution from Oxford City Council.
