The Lord Mayor of Oxford, Susanna Pressel, is offering a £100 reward for the return of her bag that was stolen from the Town Hall, Oxford.
At 8.48pm on Tuesday, a man walked into the Lord Mayor’s Parlour and stole the Lord Mayor’s work bag.
Ms Pressel said: "These two things are hugely important for my work as a councillor, though they have no value to anyone else.
"I would be extremely grateful if people could keep their eyes open and phone me or the police if they see them or hand them in at the Town Hall or at a police station.
"There were also a couple of plastic folders with all my most urgent notes and papers."
PC Richard Hayne said: “I appeal to anyone who may have seen a man entering or leaving the building acting suspiciously to contact police immediately.
“The bag is a large orange handbag which contained a diary, address book, work papers, a green cardigan and two pairs of prescription glasses.”
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact PC Hayne via 0845 8 505 505. If you don’t want to speak to police and don’t want to leave your name contact the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
