Let there be light! And there was, in Williamson Way, Rose Hill, Oxford.
For nine weeks, a street light has been on 24 hours a day.
Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining about the time it is on during the night, only that it is not off during the day.
Nine weeks-worth of electricity wasted.
Why don't you report it, I hear you say. I did — six times!
Not only that, we have street wardens plodding up and down the road. Why haven't they seen it?
So, councillors, stop wasting time pondering over whether to shut off lights on our street at night — concentrate on getting the faulty ones off in the day. The number of this light? Just a minute — I need my sunglasses. Ah yes, number three.
Better warn the birds it might be mended soon — they have been warming their backsides on it on chilly mornings.
