Usually on the way home to Witney, traffic is queued around the Eynsham roundabout.

Cars queue bumper to bumper every day to go round it.

Other cars try to squeeze in and out of the gaps left by considerate drivers, while others completely block the roundabout.

It's no fault of theirs — you wouldn't expect to see cars stationary on a roundabout at such a busy junction, would you?

I think I heard somewhere that the council said that the new traffic lights at the Eynsham turning were NOT to blame.

This has now been proved to be complete rubbish as, for the last few days, those lights have been broken and/or turned off.

Since this has happened, traffic on the roundabout is moving as smoothly and as efficiently as you like.

I haven't queued on the roundabout once this week and there are no queues waiting to leave Eynsham by the broken lights either.

There is absolutely no problem at all, and I (along with all the other people going to and from work during the rush hour) sail home quite happily.

I put this down to people using their common sense.

Surely this is proof enough that the traffic lights there are a complete farce and there only to mess things up for everyone.
