Sir — I looked at the photographs of the "Softbridge" building plan (Report, September 12) with horror.
Possibly there is place for such architecture in Baghdad or Dubai but never in a city such as Oxford.
To me it looks like a 'plane crash and with the 'plane's fuselage jammed between two buildings. What were the city councillors thinking about to accept such a ghastly design?
Apparently others have described it as "brutal" and they are dead right. If, as the article states that Ms Hadid is known for her beautiful sculptural buildings, then this design will surely sully her name. It occurs to me that Cardiff had a narrow escape.
