Benefit cheat Robert Hook has been jailed for 12 months after admitting a string of dishonest claims.
Hook, 61, of Wellington Street, Oxford, claimed more than £50,000 in housing, council tax and income support benefits.
Hook had been claiming housing and council tax benefit since 1998, but had not told the authorities his wife had been working for Oxfordshire County Council on and off as a cleaner since 1988.
Hook did not declare this information to the JobCentre or Oxford City Council, the organisation that administers benefit payments.
Hook pleaded guilty in August to nine charges of dishonestly obtaining benefits to which he was not entitled.
