A man dragged a woman into a park and raped her in the early hours of this morning.
Police have confirmed a 25-year-old woman has alleged she was attacked as she walked down West Street in Grimsbury, Banbury, at 12.30am.
She claimed a man dragged her into the park — which is known locally as West Street Park — where he raped her.
Police described the attacker as between 30 and 40 years old, about 5ft 8in tall and possibly wearing a long-sleeved white top.
Det Sgt Steve Duffy, of Banbury CID, said: "I appeal to anyone who was in this area of Banbury late last night and saw a man of this description to contact police immediately.
"I would like to reassure the community of Banbury that I have a team of officers working on the investigation and we will do everything we can to identify this offender."
Forensic officers have been at the spot this morning carrying out a fingertip search of the park.
Anyone with information is urged to call police on 08458 505505 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
