A bedroom blaze was caused by faulty wiring on a charger for an electric toothbrush, firefighters have said.
Two fire crews tackled the blaze in a house in Barnacre, Watlington, at 10.20pm yesterday.
Flames were confined to a bedroom and prevented from spreading to other rooms in the house.
An investigation showed the blaze was caused by incorrect wiring and the wrong fuse being fitted in a plug of a charger for an electrical tooth brush.
The house did not have any working smoke detectors.
Station manger Gary Coupar said: "Luckily, the occupant saw the smoke and dialled 999 and being close to the station the fire crew arrived very promptly.
"This incident could have been much worse had the occupant been sleeping and not seen the smoke, we cannot emphasise enough the importance of having working smoke detectors."
