Three care workers will not face criminal charges following the death of a disabled teenager who died after she was scalded in bath water.

Yelena Hasselberg-Langley, 18, died in hospital from severe burns four days after she was lowered into a bath at a care home in Owens Way, Cowley, in August last year.

Police arrested three care workers from Lifeways Community Care on suspicion of manslaughter, but detectives have released them without charge.

Oxfordshire County Council, which placed Ms Hasselberg-Langley in the care of Lifeways, has since severed its ties with the company.

Two of the arrested care workers have left their jobs, while the third is serving out their notice.

An investigation by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is expected to finish later this year.

Ms Hasselberg-Langley, of Abingdon, was confined to a wheelchair and had profound disabilities that needed round-the-clock care.

A council spokesman said: "Lifeways is no longer providing any services. This was agreed mutually by Lifeways and the county council. We would not want to say any more before the inquest into her death."

Paul Marriner, chief executive of London-based Lifeways, said: "Lifeways is continually reviewing its procedures and having completed its own internal full investigations into the incident, it has taken any necessary action required to maintain the highest possible standards of care and support for all the users it supports."

An inquest into the death is expected to take place at Oxford Coroner's Court on November 20.
