A teenager who dropped a McDonald's burger wrapper on the ground found herself in court.
Banbury Magistrates Court heard today that Leigh Halligan, 18, was on her way home from work in March and had just finished eating a burger.
Afterwards, she threw the wrapper on the pavement in Church Walk, but was spotted by a Cherwell District Council environmental enforcement officer.
She was asked her name and address but twice gave false details before walking off.
Today, she pleaded guilty to dropping litter and two counts of failing to provide her name and address to an authorised officer. She was given a conditional discharge.
Paul Manning, prosecuting, said: "Litter has become a problem throughout the district and has a serious environmental impact."
Satyanam Singh, defending, said Halligan, of Usher Drive, Banbury, had been very foolish. He said: "There was a bin, she took the lazy option and dropped the wrapper."
