A brass band player from Oxford has admitted grooming a 14-year-old girl on an Internet chatroom.
Stephen Clapton, 23, of Herschel Crescent, Littlemore, appeared at Oxford Crown Court today.
He admitted meeting a child following sexual grooming, controlling a child into prostitution or pornography and inciting or causing a child to engage in a sexual activity.
Clapton, who played the cornet for a brass band, denied a charge of making indecent photographs.
Peter Coombe, prosecuting, said Clapton met the teenager on a brass band website called Mouth Piece and they continued to chat through MSN.
He added: "This defendant got in touch over a website for people with similar interests.
"He knew she was underage."
Police also found 11 stories Clapton had downloaded from the Internet about sexual encounters with young girls on his computer, Mr Coombe added.
The pair met at a brass band party at Butlins, the court heard.
Jane Brady, defending, said there was never any sexual relationship between Clapton and the teenage girl.
She added: "There was never any suggestion contact started off in a sexual way.
"It was a website for people who are interested in brass bands."
Judge Julian Hall adjourned the case for sentencing on October 24 at Oxford Crown Court.
Clapton was released on conditional bail.
