The country's leading builder of retirement homes and flats has been told it cannot go ahead with a new scheme in Witney.
McCarthy and Stone, who built Witney's St Mary's Mead development, has been refused permission for 27 sheltered flats on land at The Leys.
West Oxfordshire District Council refused the scheme because it wants a comprehensive plan for the whole site, between the Poundstretcher store and the Buttercross Works, and is unhappy about further traffic access through The Leys recreation ground.
