Thirty-five firefighters were called to a former old people's home near Oxford during the early hours of this morning after it was set alight by arsonists.

Firefighters arrived at the derelict Orchard House building in Henley Road, Sandford-on-Thames, at 12.20am to find a fire in the roof and on the ground floor.

No-one was hurt in the incident and firefighters from the Slade and Rewley Road stations in Oxford, and from Wheatley and Abingdon, left the scene at 6.20am.

Firefighters investigating the cause of the blaze are now liaising with Thames Valley Police officers.
