Oxford has sent an official letter of condolence to the city's Russian twin town of Perm, following the weekend's air crash tragedy.
Lord Mayor Susanna Pressel has written on behalf of the city after 88 people were killed when a passenger jet traveling from Moscow to the Ural Mountains city crashed.
The Boeing 737-500, which was being run by a subsidiary of national airline Aeroflot, went down on the outskirts of Perm in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Today, Ms Pressel said: "On behalf of the city of Oxford, and especially the city council, I send my sincere condolences following the horrific plane crash.
"You have many friends here and our hearts go out to everyone who has suffered a bereavement, especially to poor Tatiana Margolina.
"Please tell the citizens of Perm they are in our thoughts and convey to them our deep sympathy."
Oxford has been twinned with Perm for more than 10 years and regular twinning visits take place between the two cities.
