I was quite excited about Littl'un's first pair of arm bands - but she wasn't.
In the past she'd been 'swimming' in her baby rubber ring, but she's outgrown that now and that's where the arm bands came in.
As soon as I put them on in the changing room she didn't look pleased.
As far as I can remember, my mum used to blow our armbands up and then squeakily push them onto our arms - not pleasant.
But you don't have to do that these days - you just put them on, do a couple of blows and they're up.
Even so, she still wasn't impressed.
In the pool there were tears.
And a bit of shrieking.
She spent about 10 minutes on my knee, shouting No! No! and making the lifeguards eye me and her dad supiciously.
Then something weird happened.
A little girl, roughly the same age turned up.
She had armbands on and was scooting around the baby pool.
Littl'un studied her for about five minutes.
She smiled a bit and then she was off.
For the next hour she was like a rocket and when she stood on the side and jumped into my arms I was gobsmacked (her dad meanwhile, looked like he was going to have a coronary).
"Careful!" he shouted.
But there was no stopping her.
Talking of Daddy, we were saying goodbye to him last weekend and littl'un was in the back of the car waving to him out of the window.
Usually she just says: "Bye Bye". But suddenly she chirped up: "Bye Bye Daddy".
He was still beaming as we drove off.
