I have been feeling good recently - running well despite a lengthy lay-off for injury and cycling every day.
Yesterday I had a cracking run up the muddy hill to Youlebury Scout Camp. One of the better runners I sometimes trail round it the wake of decided to push himself up the hills to work on his calves (calfs????). Good idea I thought and just about managed to keep up. We had a pleasant run down again as we slowed to a jog and felt a good sense of achievement.
But today I am stiffer in a muscular sense than I have been for a very long time and shamed myself by pulling out of our University Parks handicap run after just one lap. I felt a tightness in my previously injured foot and dropped out as a precaution. But as my mentor/sensai, Dickie, pointed out I may not have given in so easily if he wasn't getting the better of me.
Shame on me!
