After all the hype I couldn't make our 'For One night Only' evening of Prose, Poetry and the like on the 2nd February, but I am assured the evening went well with an audience of over 70 enjoying the contributions from both the drama group and other local organisations.
Profits from the night will be distributed to good causes in the village. More details as I discover what and where.
In the unlikely event of anyone wondering why I have been missing lately, I have been away. A trip to Melbourne to visit some friends who have recently emigrated, Tasmania and Hong Kong were the reason for my absence. Sorry about that.
As previously reported our next production has been chosen and now cast with rehearsals already in progress. 'Ladies' Day' by Amanda Whittington is a tale of work, love and life being one hard slog for the fish-filleting foursome from Hull, Pearl, Jan, Shelley and Linda.
Their fortunes however are set to change when Linda finds tickets to Ladies Day at Royal Ascot, the year it relocated to York.
Out go the hairnets, overalls and wellies as the four ditch work, do themselves up to the nines and head off to the races for a drink, a flirt and a flutter. If their luck holds, they could hit the jackpot-and more besides....It's a great play and very funny.
Our skittle evening looms with the reigning champion in training to defend his title. Part of the blog will be dedicated to following this mans rigorous schedule next week. Stay tuned, good man.
