The thing is, this actually did happen! On Saturday 17 November, Aladdin, Princess So-Shi and Widow Twankey drove in to town on a Park & Ride bus with the full Kennington Brass Band and, no one less than Mr. Claus himself!
On arrival in town the characters then ran riot around Debenhams, which I must say, was hilarious to watch! Aladdin and the Princess were giving out sweeties to all and sundry whilst Widow Twankey simply bellowed at the shoppers – a good time was had by all!
The office has been incredibly busy this week as we have been proofing copy after copy of the new season brochure and calendar as well as working hard on getting the panto programme ready for when we open. The smallest details need to be looked so closely – our four-person office has been flat out! As well as that we have been back and fourth with the cast of panto to the BBC ready for a very special series of interviews that will be aired next week. No rest for the wicked eh?!
This time next week it will be opening night for ALADDIN . I have been fortunate enough to catch some of the rehearsals, and I must say I can’t wait to see it on stage! I know I am biased but it truly does look like a fantastic show – and the cast and crew all get on together so well off-stage, I think it really shows in their performances.
I hope to see you all at the Playhouse at some point in over the Christmas period!
