A couple of weeks ago I went with my team to the Royal Opera House in London (not for ballet) after this event you could have a quick step or two or may be a slow step or two. It was the Bordeaux 2005 wine tasting, hailed as the best vintage ever so one cannot miss it if you are invited, it would be rude. However when you travel by car or any other means there is a third party to spoil the party so to speak, I was travelling from home in Lymington to Oxford at 7.00am to pick up the boys and I heard on the radio that there was an accident on the M40, I thought by the time I get to Oxford the accident will have cleared. Got to Oxford picked the boys, off we go, hit the M40 travelling nicely then all of a sadden traffic ahead, dumb,to late the same accident I heard earlier was still causing problems, it is annoying sitting on the road, changing one to lane to another it still does not get you anywhere fast or slow, it took five hours to get to London, we got at the venue by 3.00pm, we were warned that we had forty five minutes to go. Hell give me a brake there are a thousand wines in here, so I got my team on a mission, follow me. Obviously it was wise to taste the best wines first and then the minor ones, we managed to taste about eighty wines. I tell you the wines were superb, I am afraid it is going to be an expensive vintage, but on the other hand the inexpensive wines are going to be good, so watch out for the 2005, ho by the way all this tasting is not always fun, because we are trying wines that are not ready to drink for at least ten years, so they are though. Then a week later we went to The Dorchester London, this time by bus for convenience, thank goodness no accidents, this time Tuscany wines, Agustin and Nicola were enjoying themselves, again about a thousand wines, this time because we had more time, we did what we normally do whites first, then some reds, by one o'clock we were ready to go to the buffet, and what a buffet because of the Italian occasion lots of Italian cold meats, hot lamb cutlets, veal, fish, tiramisu, cheeses. After the meal another session on the reds more sumptuous flavours, heaven on hearth, do you know this winemakers are making a lot of effort to give us better wines to drink. Cheers to the winemakers.
Ciao Ciao
