Surrounded by rolling hills and picturesque limestone villages, Chipping Norton or ‘Chippy’ as it is affectionately known, makes a good base for exploring the Cotswolds.
Oxford and Stratford are each within 20 miles, and there are regular bus services to both.
Chippy has its own theatre, leisure centre, museum, art galleries, more than 20 inns and restaurants, and individual shops — including books and antiques — and the medieval Guildhall.
Market day is on Wednesday with a farmers’ market on the third Saturday morning each month.
Although the town centre is peppered with many Georgian houses, new homes have been created on the outskirts and in pockets within the town.
An example is the Bliss Tweed Mill, a Victorian building on the edge of town, once a major source of employment, that has now been converted into homes.
