Councillors and residents in Blackbird Leys have come together for a litter pick.

It follows other litter picks at Dunnock Way, Kingfisher Green, and Sandy Lane which have taken place as part of an initiative introduced by a group of Labour councillors.

Councillor Lubna Arshad, who represents Blackbird Leys, said: "Together, we are demonstrating the strength of community in Blackbird Leys, with residents and councillors united to make a difference one litter pick at a time creating a cleaner, happier, and stronger neighbourhood for all.

The most recent event attracted 14 participants, with several others expressing interest but unable to attend.

County councillor Imade Edosomwan said: "Many residents have told us they are fed up with litter and fly-tipping in their area, as it often attracts other forms of anti-social behaviour.

Oxford city councillor Linda Smith added: "Organising these litter-picking sessions has been a fantastic way to bring people together while improving our environment.

"It’s inspiring to see so many residents take part."

The next litter pick is scheduled to take place outside Windrush Tower on Saturday, January 11.
