A cricket commentating legend visited an Oxfordshire pub for a ‘magical’ event, organisers said.
Henry "Blowers" Blofeld, retired sports journalist and commentator on BBC’s Test Match Special, visited The Three Horseshoes in Witney last night (Thursday) to meet the town’s cricket fans.
The event involved a book signing and meet-and-greet for the public in the afternoon followed by a sold-out sit-down dinner event and Q&A session with the special guest.

Mike Dove and Tom Higgs, joint owners of the pub, said: “Everything about it was perfect, it was a wonderful night.
“Henry really is the voice of cricket so to have him in our pub was an honour for us, and the guests that were there were big cricket fans and very knowledgeable, so everything he spoke about they absolutely loved.
“When he left he got a standing ovation from every single person in there. It really summed up what happened that night and how magical it was.”
Every attendee of the dinner received a signed copy of Mr Blofeld’s latest book of the nine he’s now authored, Sharing My Love of Cricket.

The co-owners added: “We’ve been fortunate enough to know Henry for a number of years and he really supports what we do, and really wanted to come and do this. He’s already said he’d like to come back next year for another event with us.”
The Three Horseshoes has only been open under the current ownership for 18 months, but in that time Mr Dove and Mr Higgs have hosted numerous community events and have raised over £30,000 for different charities.
