Oxford will host the British Transplant Games for the first time next summer.

The flagship event of charity Transplant Sport aims to raise awareness of the life-saving benefits of organ donation and encourage transplant recipients to stay active post-transplant.

Following a successful European Transplant Games in 2022, the games will take place at various venues across the city from July 31 to August 3, 2025.

With over 24 sporting events hosted over four days, the games are expected to attract around 1,000 transplant athletes, along with their families, friends, and donors to the city.

The launch event will take place on December 5 at Blenheim Palace, which will be one of the 2025 games venues.

The event will involve a special performance from The Voice star and kidney transplant recipient, Adam Isaac.

The singer, aged 40, was given a life-changing kidney transplant in 2022 from a bandmate he hadn’t seen in 15 years after being diagnosed with kidney failure.

The annual four-day event has been running for more than 40 years and many athletes also go on to compete at the World Transplant Games.
