A Didcot running group has raised £1,400 for two local charities through a five-mile road race and fun run.
Didcot Runners presented a cheque for £700 to environmental Earth Trust at a presentation ceremony last week, with £700 also benefiting SOFEA, a Didcot-based charity championing social empowerment and food accessibility.
The money was raised at the club’s annual Didcot 5 event held in July, which brought together more than 250 runners, volunteers, and spectators.
Lindsey Bassett, individual giving manager at Earth Trust, which is based near Didcot, said: "We’re so grateful to Didcot Runners for its long-standing support of Earth Trust.
"The club has now raised a total of £7,600 to enable us to nurture special local places like the Wittenham Clumps, and to champion access and engagement with natural green spaces for everyone."
Sarah Rogers, chair of Didcot Runners, added: "We were thrilled with the support from everyone involved in the Didcot 5 this year, from the participants to sponsors, volunteers, and spectators all ensuring the day was a great success.
"Both Earth Trust and SOFEA are integral parts of our community, and we are grateful to have the opportunity to contribute to their invaluable work."
Natalie Trueman, sales and lettings administrator from William Jones Estate Agents, a key sponsor of the Didcot 5, also attended the presentation ceremony.
