An independent coffee shop in Oxfordshire has opened a new café, and customers have been enjoying free hot drinks to celebrate.

Missing Bean, which set up with just one shop in central Oxford in 2009, has opened its seventh café in the county in Oxford Road of Woodstock.

Halfway through its first day, the Woodstock café team said they’ve had a warm welcome from the community.

Ben Sankey, café operations manager, said: "What a welcome that was - Woodstock you are wonderful.

“Thank you to everyone who braved the cold winter’s morning this Friday to queue up outside the shop - we hope the free hot drinks defrosted you and made the wait worthwhile.

“Thanks also for your patience with our lovely new team - manager Jake and the girls loved meeting you all and can't wait to get to know you properly over the coming weeks and months.”

The rapid expansion of the independent coffee shop, which now includes sites in Magdalen Road, Abingdon, Banbury and Botley, is testament to its popularity.

It faced tough competition from global chains like Costa on opening, but the company gives credit to its speciality coffee and focus on customer service for its success.

Woodstock café is in 17 Oxford Road, Woodstock, open 9am-4pm on weekdays and 8am-4pm on weekends.
